The difference between pseudo-boehmite and alumina

In recent years, with the rapid development of the catalyst field, the use of catalysts, especially precious metal catalysts, has attracted much attention. China's major enterprises and major research institutions are constantly improving and upgrading the durability and stability of catalysts and catalyst carriers. So what is the difference between pseudo-boehmite and alumina?

Pseudo-boehmite is also known as hydrated alumina, the molecular formula is AlOOH, and the molecular formula of alumina is Al2O3, in fact, pseudo-boehmite can be understood as the precursor of alumina, that is, similar to aluminum hydroxide with crystal water, the general content of alumina is adjustable in 60%-80%. Taking the German sasol process as an example, using aluminum ingots and n-hexanol reaction hydrolysis and drying to produce the α phase pseudo-boehmite, according to the process adjustment can also produce the γ phase Boehmite. Pseudo-boehmite can be transformed into γ-alumina at about 600℃ and α-alumina at about 1200℃ by calcination process.

At present, various catalyst companies have begun to develop pseudo-boehmite to prepare catalyst carriers, including extrusion molding, drop ball molding, rolling ball molding and so on. At present, the process of forming microspheres is still a big problem in our country.

The nano-aluminum sol powder MZT-AH03, newly developed by Ningbo Jiweina New Material Technology Co., LTD., has a particle size of 3 nm, a specific surface area of about 250m2/g, a pH value between 4-5, uniform dispersion, transparency, long-term stability and no agglomeration and other significant technical advantages. It can be widely used in fiber, ceramics, refractory materials, paper making, textile, catalyst and other fields.
